From there is was off to Siam Mall as we needed a couple of things and sadly due to Covid its pretty much the only place in the south with a wide range of shops that are open, and although I am a massive supporter of local stores what we have to remember is these large chain stores started out with only one or two stores and have only got where they are because of ongoing support. Sadly the rest of the south currently resembles a ghost town.
From the mall we drove back up the west coast to a village called Piedra Hincada where good friends of ours live, we had arranged to meet up for dinner. Its a residential area so not that much has changed during lock down although many of the residents who live there are currently out of work waiting for the tourists to arrive and the hotels to reopen. We met at a bar called Bar La Era, its very Canarian and does fabulous food. Not only is it good but you get a lot of it as you see by Eddies Pork Chop! https://www.facebook.com/La-Era-Bar-Parrilla-431911120945868/
The state of emergency has now been lifted in Spain which means that borders are now open and people from other countries can now travel here. I believe that there tests on arrival and forms have to be filled in regarding where people will be staying on the island, among some other questions. At the moment the UK Government are advising against all but essential travel, whether this will change in the near future is anyone's guess!
