I´m late with my blog this week and to be honest the cheese has slipped a little. If I´m really honest the cheese went AWOL for a few days, I think its slowly getting back on track.
Easter or F'easter as it is known in our house has passed and all the folk that came down from the north have now gone home. While it infuriates the hell out of me that they come down and use our facilities and barely spend a penny, I get that many of these people have not been away from home in goodness knows how long and a break was probably just what they needed.
The Easter restrictions were due for revision yesterday but it still seems that our cases are too high to move us back to level 2 so we remain in level 3. I suppose the only positive is that they didn't put us on level 4, although I'm not convinced that they won't in the near future, we will see.
This once again means the 10PM curfew continues along with no indoor drinking or dining, along with no live entertainment. I'm really missing the Live entertainment and can't wait to be gigging again soon.
Los Gigantes feels eerily quiet at times and at other times there are very few people milling about. While we are all trying to remain as positive as we can, I think most of us in reality are beginning to feel like we are slowly losing our livelihoods, and everything that we have worked so hard for is slipping away. It's like the rug is being pulled from under our feet!
Jet 2 have just announced that they are now out of action until late June as apposed to Late May, and today Prince Philip has passed away, its a sad day all round.
We all continue to muddle through as best we can and the locals of Los Gigantes are being as supportive as they can, and we are so thankful for this, however the village really needs the tourists back and we all need to be able to travel again.
We are all desperate to see our families and while Face Time and video calling is great, it just isn't, and never will be the same.
On a more positive note I have just read on the local press that they are opening three new vaccination centres on the island and they will begin mass vaccinations immediately. This has to be good news, and while I'm not in favour of being vaccinated I will gladly take it if it means travel restrictions can be lifter sooner rather than later.
Until next time, stay safe

I have enclosed a few photos of a lonely Los Gigantes waiting for everyone return, we just hope that we can come back bigger and stronger
Chin up. We will return when able x
ReplyDeleteHi Holly, for interest, why aren't you in favour of being vaccinated? You say you will take it for the sake of business but surely it's a good thing in its own right helping to protect yourself and others. We are very much hoping to catch up with Los Gigantes , and you and Eddie again in September.
ReplyDeleteI'm just not sure it's had enough research with regards to longterm side effects but like I say when my time comes I will go and have it. We need travel and we need tourism!
DeleteIt's a simple choice, you want to live or you don't. Those who say they will not have it are mad for themselves but for others they could pass it on to. Is that really what you want.?
